IMO the dice-roll effects were super fun. Boy is that lasting value for you if you get one swing at a player with 7+ in hand. It is flavorful to me that Elder Brain will often attack the player with the most knowledge (cards in hand). This would be more like the exile version of a wheel effect which can probably be "unfun" depending on how you build your decks, I personally don't care if someone plays something of mine as long as I get to resupply/keep my hand or if it pulls a rando of the top of my library (then again I rarely play key combo pieces). grab a card from your hand or take your permanent from you. SpammyV unfun is very subjective, IMO steal effects aren't all that bad unless they literally rip a resource away without replacing it, ie. ABD can literally have 0 power and you'd still be getting tons of value. If your average roll on a d20 is a 10, that's TEN POWER you can pull from ALL graveyards. So yes, 3/5 is perfectly reasonable for this. The 3/5 and whatever your 3 power you rolled into was. That gives you a total of 6 power online. Even as a 3/5 if you roll a 3, that's still 3 power you can pull on field (assuming you have the appropriate cards in your yard). So, if this is the baseline as the weakest, WTF DO THE REST LOOK LIKE? I don't recall ABDs having necromantic powers so the graveyard recurrence is a bit odd, but I suppose there is limitation with the zones and black already cares about graveyards. The black is clearly leaning toward the Chaotic side, though I'd have preferred it to be Orzhov for the Chaotic Good. Having a Dragon who can not protect itself, doesn't have haste, and chooses to have others fight for it (the ETB return ability) makes a whole lot of sense. They typically refrain from any sort of combat and prefer to negotiate and barter instead. In game, they are the weakest among all Metallic dragons. Oh and with a Mirror Box you can make extra Boos!Īncient Brass Dragon is more of a Vorthos card than anything. Anyway, changelings are also Hamsters so you could fling e.g. Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes: I don't see much appeal for running him as a commander beyond fan-service. No haste or self-protection along with unreliability isn't super great, but it'll occassionaly be quite funny when it gets in hits multiple turns in a row.Įlder Brain: Not a dnd expert but I though these were supposed to be immobile? Anyway, obviously funny with Notion Thief

Hell, now the visual color doesn't even apply how is a shiny Chaotic Good creature mono-black? The actual card is an OK Timmy creature. Oh and note that whatever spell cards you don't choose to cast stays exiled.Īncient Brass Dragon: I was annoyed about the color assignment of the chromatic dragons and I'm annoyed about this.

Prosper obviously enjoys this, even if the exta red pip makes it a bit harder to reliably cast off an impulse draw. Even if you can't rely on getting more than one spell (it'll "only" happen 55% of the time), the fact that you don't have to guess which opponent has the best spell cards in their deck (hell, you get to reveal quite a bit of information for everyone to see) and get to choose among three cards makes the risk of whiffing with stuff like Torment of Hailfire or Elvish Promenade much less likely. Here’s the Baldur’s Gate spoiler schedule leading up to launch, according to WotC.Wand of Wonder: Deluxe Chaos Wand for one more mana to cast (but the same for actually activating).

Wizards of the Coast has released a preview schedule for the upcoming Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur’s Gate spoilers, along with special Discord meetings where players can ask devs who worked on the Magic: The Gathering set questions.
